On the 5th April 2017 the Children in Care Council (CICC) met with Kurt Ferdinand, the manager of the Independent Reviewing Service for looked after children in Camden.
During this meeting we discussed the important role and responsibilities of the Independent Reviewing Officer when supporting young people in Camden. This discussion included:
- A copy of young-people-friendly minutes from the LAC meeting to be sent directly to young person
- The possibility of the young person having the option to chair their own LAC review meeting (should they chose to)
- We discussed the work coved by the IRO whilst they are behind-the-scenes such as meeting with the young person between LAC reviews to gain their own views, wishes and opinions.
