Takeover Day November 2016

Posted on 30 November 2016

Over 50 Camden children and young people took  part  in the Takeover day activities on the 18th November 2016.

The activities were organised by the Council as part of the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge 2016

Young people took part in workshops  during the morning before presenting their ideas to Councillors and senior officers in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall in the afternoon.

This year’s topics for discussion, on which the young people are presenting their ideas, are:

  • Mental health
  • Police stop and search policy
  • Healthy living
  • Communication with young people
  • Camden’s STEAM Commission (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths).

Takeover Challenge is a country-wide event, run by the Children’s Commissioner for England, which gives young people the opportunity to step into the shoes of adults at work.

The Challenge has grown year-on-year with more than 45,000 children from all over the country due to take part in 2016. Organisations and individuals who get involved include major broadcasters, government departments, a West End theatre and MPs.
