I have had a mentor for over 2 years. I learnt about the mentoring scheme from my key worker at the Centre Point where I live.
I meet my mentor every 2 weeks. The most important thing about having a mentor is that you have someone independent to talk to and everything we talk about is kept confidential.
A mentor is like a personal guide who gives you support and encouragement.
Having a mentor has helped me in many different ways: finding the right course at the college, making job applications, becoming more confident and help with personal issues.
I would strongly recommend having a mentor. I think most young people struggle with many aspects of their life. A mentor can help them to look more closely at the personal issues and help to make goals for the future and how to achieve them.
